Forget yourself and go to work

4:31 PM (5 hours ago)

October 26, 2015

Be this close to the border for this long and it was bound to happen. :) Hola famila y amigos! I love you all! I wanted to send some fun pictures today to show you just how much it looks like Illinois here...until you see the mountains. Yep! Those mountains take my breath away every time we see them and that is just about every day we drive from Pomerene to St David. I just can't stop telling Sister Harrington how BEAUTIFUL it is here. So pretty much I may need mountains in the rest of my life?

There were a lot of good things in this last week and Sunday was pretty much the best day of them all. We were able to serve some of the members. Get to meet quite a few people. Be in a trio for a few days while some Sisters were shuffled around and see and feel some miracles happen. Those were so good. There is truth in forgetting yourself and going to work.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord full time right now. It is truly the greatest blessing. Though I do it imperfectly and stumble like a child most times. He is good and is there to steady me. I love the Book of Mormon. In the chapters in Alma right now it gets harder to find evidence of the Savior but I have found Him in the actions of others. But it is a searching effort. I love the Savior with all my heart. I am grateful for Him and His infinite atonement with all my heart. It was a sweet morning in early July when I realized that the infinite part included me. When I let it sink into my soul, I felt the light and hope flood into all the spaces of what felt like a dark room. Since then getting to see that light flood into others lives is what has driven being here.

I love you all so much. Really.

I Changed

Family! Friends! Fellow Tucsonians lend me your ears!

...or just your eyes

Hey, how's it going guys? :) I hope you liked the story from last week! And the cool picture that you got! Yep, a tarantula. It was totally wicked! Oh man this transfer has done something to me in such a positive way. I feel SO much joy in my heart! And I have been able to witness one of the greatest miracles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Being front row for the soul wrenching, hell inducing trials of another and watching them come out on the other side with Christ on their side.

Before they were alone. (thought they were...) And then through the bitterness and depth of sorrow they turned to Him who has "...borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows;..." and changed (Mosiah 14). The light, the attitude, the everything of this person is new. Different. Complete. Because "...he hath given it free for all men; and he hath commanded his people that they should persuade all men to repentance," or change (2 Nephi 26). To come more completely to Christ and become more like Him. This person, she is new. And I sure love her. What a miracle that through Christ we can be changed because of the Atonement. That has got to be the best part about my mission, not just the past 4 weeks though it has been so real these past few days. Change. Seeing the new light. Miracles.

Speaking of miracles! Oh my goodness! I met some pretty amazing people this past week! :) I got to go on an exchange this past Tuesday with a Sister that I have to admit I had a struggle with many months ago. (but I CHANGED because I WAS WRONG. and I am so grateful I was because I love her!) And on exchanges I got to meet a super rad girl name Kelly! Holy hannah the church has needed her her whole life! Seriously this is one strong woman. And she just blew me away with her testimony and her willingness to sacrifice for her salvation. Yep. loveher. Where has she been my whole life? :) We also had so many miracles just striving to be under the complete influence of the Spirit and were led to some amazing places to do some amazing things. Wow! Oh man and then Sister Stebar and I had amazing experiences with working and seeing our people change this week. I LOVE that under change in the Topical Guide it says the Eternal Nature of God! Because God asks us to change and provides with opportunities to change and grow. I LOVE it!

Oh my goodness super jazzed. :) I love you all. Really I do. But I am so grateful to be exactly where I am right now. Its hard but the blessings and growth are so worth it.

Hey Family and friends,

Greetings from downtown Benson, Arizon-A! So in the past few weeks I got to go horseback riding! Hug a bear. Pet a mountain lion...suuuuuper weird. And stared down a looked like it was going to shoot! :)

But really there has been so much more. So serving in Pomerene and St. David is a bit different than Vail. But still filled with such kind and good people! Only the people who know my Mom and where she is from will is like serving in Morgantown. But more members. :)

We had a really cool experience last Saturday with stopping at a gas station and this man started to talk to us and tell us that he wanted to be happy. We told him that to be happy he would need to get closer to the Savior and he agreed. We shared a copy of the Book of Mormon with him and invited him to learn more.

Also, cool story from Friday and Saturday. So last week we got a text message that there would be a surprise meeting in Tucson for the Mission Leaders. What? Okay. So we make arrangements and find out that Elder Lynn G Robbins was in town for the Temple Groundbreaking and wanted to speak with us. Pretty neat! The things we learned about, my brain is still trying to comprehend them. However what I did understand very clearly was that we have Agency. 100% agency. We fought for this agency in the Pre-Earth Life. :) We also have the 100% responsibility for whatever we choose to do. And the acceptance of the positive or negative consequences. It is no one else's, but ours. And as we take responsibility we also maintain control of our lives. I loved that. There was so much more about gaining the attributes of Christ and the importance of becoming someone through doing good things.

Who do you want to become?

p.s. As I figure out more, I will write you more about the meeting! Super cool things.

General Conference Weekend

Family! Friends! Loved ones! Acquaintances!

I love you all! Really! Can you feel it? I hope so. I just wish I could be sitting next to each one of you and just give you a BIG ANNNNACONDA SQUEEEEEZE! :) I would run and blow bubbles or jump of trampolines or build blanket forts with you! ...yep we totally did all of that this past week and I totally want to share those experiences with all of you!! :)

So this week was great! We made progress on our digital area book. Yep, technology is still frustrating but I choose to see it as inspired! haha Because it really does help so much. We went out and had great lessons with the people that the Lord has trusted us with. It is such a blessing to be a missionary! Even though every day is hard. I have recently learned again and again how wrong I have been about so many things and I am so grateful. The thing that keeps such joy and peace in my heart is the question Alma asks in Alma 5:26 "if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?" I had, but I couldn't. Until I started being humbled and accepting the chastisement. Yeah still so much changing to do. But I am grateful for the joy I feel! Makes the squeezes even bigger! ...just ask Sister Stebar.

Family. Friends. Loved ones. Acquaintances. How's your heart? Have you let the Spirit help maintain the changes within you? Or will you let the Savior grant you the strength to change once again? Constructive changes are so good! You are ALL needed in the most good and pure ways.

Love from AZ.

PS General Conference was the most amazing thing this weekend. Check it out!

Adventures in Vail

Sept 21, 2015

AttachmentsSep 21 (10 days ago)

Hello family and friend:

Once upon a time there was a girl name Sister Walter. And she was in this land called Vail Arizona. But she
was only kept there for a short while. When she was there she went on many adventures with many friends
and talked to many strangers with her two wonderful companions! She wrote on chalk walls, walked the
streets, played in hail storms, rode make believe horses, ran over a rattlesnake, ran after cattle and tarantulas
and lizards, traveled distances to a temple of the Lord!, saw planes, trains and automobiles, was given a
baby who bloomed into a beautiful bird of paradise, saw friends come and go :), met amazing people, walked
with God a time or two, went to the hospital, offered to kill a chicken, pet a emu, saw beautiful people enter
into covenants with God and so much more. She found out basically that Vail was the translated City of Enoch.

If you can't see the pictures - one is of a tarantula, one a cow, one the temple.
